A published fee percentage tells you what Amazon should pay, not what actually lands. A few things routinely eat into that estimate after the fact:
Total Income = Item Subtotal + Shipping Revenue − Discounts
Commission = your rate × Item Subtotal
Total Deductions = Item Cost + Commission + Fulfillment Fee (FBA only) or Shipping Cost (seller-fulfilled only) + Packaging Cost + Kitting Cost
Estimated Profit = Total Income − Total Deductions
Break-even item subtotal is where Estimated Profit reaches zero, given your other costs and commission rate.
The Fulfillment toggle swaps which one line applies: FBA shows Fulfillment Fee and hides Shipping Cost; Seller-fulfilled shows Shipping Cost and hides Fulfillment Fee. Each mode remembers its own numbers.
Subtract your item cost, Amazon’s referral fee (commission), fulfillment fee, shipping cost, packaging cost and kitting cost from your item subtotal and shipping revenue, minus any discounts. What is left is your estimated profit. This calculator does that math live in your browser as you type.
A referral fee (commonly 8% to 15% depending on category) plus fulfillment fees if you use Fulfillment by Amazon, or your own shipping cost if you fulfill the order yourself. Amazon publishes the current rates at sell.amazon.com/pricing.
Shipping cost adjustments (re-rates) that land days after the payout and return costs both cut into the estimate after the fact. On Pro and Ultimate, Rilk tracks the after-adjustments number from your real settlement data instead of estimating it.
